David M. Washebek, NECA Academy of Electrical Contracting Fellow

September 16, 2020

September 2020 – Lemberg President and CEO David M. Washebek is selected as Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting (Academy) by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) for his professional contributions to the electrical industry at both the local and national levels. NECA recognizes members who have provided services to the electrical industry that are “exceptional and beyond any normal call of duty or loyalty.” Washebek will be installed at the NECA Convention in Chicago on October 4, 2020.David M. “I am honored to be selected as a Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contracting,” said Washebek. “It is a privilege to be included with so many outstanding leaders in the electrical contracting industry.”

Washebek was selected based on his contributions to NECA’s Milwaukee chapter. These include:

  • The formation of the construction wireman/construction electrician (CW/CE) program, which helped to rebuild the local industry manpower lost in the Great Recession.
  • The enactment of the Wisconsin state licensing program and ongoing mandatory code-based education for all electricians working in the state.
  • Securing funding and facilities for the expansion of the Milwaukee Electrical Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee’s (MEJATC) continuing education program, which now features state-of-the-art equipment and credentialing services.
  • The revitalization of the one-of-a-kind Manpower Portability Program that electrical contracting firms and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) maintain throughout Wisconsin.
  • The successful negotiation of extensions of various labor agreements between NECA and the IBEW.

Washebek’s nearly two-year nomination was facilitated by several members of the NECA community, including the Milwaukee Chapter’s Board of Directors Executive Vice President Robert Rayburn and Fellow of the Academy members Michael Kelliher, Anthony Maloney, and Gervase Rose.

“This particular recognition of David’s career-long service to the electrical construction industry is especially noteworthy in that less than 2% of the NECA members are selected for Fellowship in the Academy,” said Rayburn.

About the Academy of Electrical Contracting

The NECA Board of Governors formed the Academy in 1968 to recognize industry leaders for their contributions to the industry and retain them as consultants for improvement of both the organization and the industry, and as mentors to others in the industry.
