In a recent article on eight simple productivity hacks, Forbes reported that those who multitask are not necessarily more productive. In fact, they are more distracted by "irrelevant environmental stimuli." Pick your distraction: Insta updates, iPhone notifications, texts, email, phone calls, the open-door-pop-in chat or can-you-stop-what-you're-doing-to-help-me chat. That doesn't even begin to address open-area work environments where distractions hit just about every one of the senses. What's more is that those same multitaskers also perform worse in tests that measure the ability to switch tasks. There was food, face painting, friends, a raffle and a lot of animals. The weather was gorgeous -- perfect for a summer picnic. Throughout our 90th Anniversary year, we realize that the one thing that remains constant is change. From leadership and staff to our building and equipment, change requires us to be agile, innovative and sometimes simply compliant.That's especially true of the safety staple -- the hard hat.

Believe it or not, hard hats do expire. Just like any piece of equipment, safety equipment is consistently being upgraded as technology and materials get better. Located on the inside of your hard hat should be a manufacturer-stamped date which will be the date the hard hat was molded. Quick math tells you how long you should keep your trusty skull bucket.

In 2013, Lemberg leadership took a hard look at the way the company was represented to the public and decided it needed a face lift. After all, Lemberg was growing. The company had acquired a few businesses and expanded services. The team embarked on a rebranding process that would take more than a year to complete.

Enter design and marketing firms, writers, and social gurus who advised on every aspect of the external representation of the company. In the end, Lemberg's branding/marketing committee changed not only the logo, but also the look of printed materials, website and even the way they "spoke" to the customers through these media.

Anniversary Memory: 2003 and 2018, the Common Thread of Hope

In 2003, the country saw the developments and events that would define not only the year but the decade. We saw the development of the Department of Homeland Security and shared a collective exhale with the capture of Saddam Hussein. The completion of the Human Genome Project forever changed medicine and the implementation of the Do Not Call list gave us the sense that we still had a little control over our privacy. Closer to home, thousands of Harley motorcycle owners where rumbling into Milwaukee for the 100th anniversary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. 

Though it might not have made national headlines, Lemberg celebrated an important milestone as well -- one that takes on new meaning this year as we celebrate once again.
