Lineage Logistics

Lemberg's Service team responded to a summer season emergency call from long-time customer Lineage Logistics, a cold storage facility located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A high-voltage switch failure threatened the company's cold storage unit and its entire product line.

Lemberg's team worked throughout the weekend to solve the issue. The switch was part of a high-voltage service/feeder bay lineup. Because the other sections of the unit were still functional and it would have been costly to replace completely the team worked with the customer on a solution that involved gutting and rebuilding just the faulty switch.

In the meantime, the company still needed power to maintain the temperature of their product. To provide that, the team had a 2000 KVA generator delivered from Chicago. While the generator was en route, they worked with WE Energies on an emergency outage to isolate the high voltage switch that failed. The Lemberg team disconnected the switch and the 480 volt service equipment inside the unit. Then the team refed 2000 amps at 480 volts constantly via temporary cables to the rented generator. This provided the needed power to the cold storage while the repair was performed.

The generator, which consumed 800 gallons of fuel per day, was in place for several weeks while replacement parts were located and the switch rebuilt.
