Brookfield electrical contracting firm Lemberg announced that two signs projects received awards during the annual Wisconsin Sign Association (WSA) design contest. The company earned first place in the Directional, Wayfinding/ADA Signage category and second place in the Monument Signage category. Both projects were completed in 2022 and the awards were announced at the association’s trade show in October. According to WSA, judging is based on overall design, selection and use of materials, and compatibility with the application for which it is intended.
The first-place award in the Directional, Wayfinding/ADA Signage category recognizes two signs on the downtown campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). The Gateway welcome sign is located over the entrance to the MSOE plaza off North Broadway and East Highland Avenue. It is a unique style conceptualized by Ramlow/Stein Architecture with specifications, construction, and installation provided by the Lemberg signs and lighting team. It is constructed with the appearance of an I-Beam, measuring 27 feet long and 12 feet high in size. Additionally, a monument sign, measuring 8 feet 6 inches high and 8 feet 9 inches wide, sits inside the family plaza, offering a perfect photo opportunity for new and prospective students. Lemberg has previously partnered with general contractors to create and install brand signage on campus, including the Campus Center, Innovation Park, University Terrace, Family Plaza, Herman Viets Tower, and Dierks Hall.
A project for Colliers International took second place in the Monument Signage category. The company was looking to update aging signage for three properties on Swenson Drive in Waukesha and sought a unique, fresh design. The final product was inspired by a triangle gable feature from the building’s architecture, with white LED lighting at the top of the bases creating a powerful appearance. The signage measures 10-feet long, 7-feet high, and 3-feet deep, and was developed by Lemberg sign designer Eric Bailey.
“It is exciting to receive these awards and we are grateful for our staff and partners who helped developed these truly unique and outstanding designs,” said John Wachniak, sign department manager at Lemberg. “Our team is dedicated to being leaders in the industry by providing our customers the best signage design and installation services.”
