Lemberg Celebrates 95 Years of Milwaukee Partnerships – Can You Recognize These 10 Milwaukee Landmarks?

February 8, 2023
E.V. Thompson

Lemberg is proud to celebrate nearly a century of electrical construction excellence and 30 years of employee ownership. Through our long-standing partnerships with Milwaukee-area businesses, we can call ourselves one of Milwaukee’s largest and most trusted employee-owned electrical construction organizations.

To celebrate, we’re taking a moment to highlight ten Milwaukee-area businesses and landmarks we helped along the way with our electrical services and solutions. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or visiting Milwaukee for the first time, you’re sure to recognize these landmarks that make Milwaukee a fun and unique city!

1) Coakley Brothers Water Tower

CoakleyBrothersWaterTowerLED

After admiring a similar piece in Brooklyn, New York, the CEO and owner of Coakley Brothers reached out to the artist to commission a project for Milwaukee. The result was the creation and installation of a transparent stained-glass cylinder shaped like a vintage water tower.

Titled the Coakley Brothers Water Tower, the signature mosaic sculpture quickly became a symbol for the company and a popular Milwaukee skyline landmark. When the sculpture’s original white LED fixtures began to fail, Lemberg was brought in to replace the fixtures with color-changing LEDs, allowing for flexibility to use the tower to support holidays and awareness campaigns such as breast cancer.

2) Milwaukee Art Museum

MilwaukeeArtMuseum

Located right off Lake Michigan and with its contemporary architecture, the Milwaukee Art Museum is arguably one of the most recognizable Milwaukee landmarks. It’s easy to admire its structural beauty, but it’s important not to overlook all the details that keep such an intricate building functioning.

After a renovation and expansion, Lemberg was happy to help the MAM with its cabling needs by providing a seamless and affordable connection for the expanded MAM campus. Our electricians also provided special gallery lighting to improve viewing experience.

3) Saint Kate — The Arts Hotel

Located in downtown Milwaukee's busy entertainment and convention area, Saint Kate is the perfect destination for local explorers, business travelers and more! It's no wonder it was recently named "one of the absolute coolest hotels in Wisconsin" by Conde Naste Traveler.

Lemberg was proud to create the iconic hotel’s award-winning, custom red neon sign that was designed to be mounted vertically and bent at a 90-degree angle to wrap around the corner of the historic building, creating an eye-catching and unique focal point.

4) Brighten the Passage

BTP-test2

Brighten the Passage” is an internationally-awarded city initiative that created aesthetic lighting and public art beneath downtown Milwaukee's I-794 to connect the downtown area to Milwaukee's Third Ward District. Through our LED program lighting and electrical services, we were able to brighten what once was an unappealing "dead" zone into a well-lit, artful corridor.

5) Summerfest

It isn’t summer in Milwaukee without Summerfest, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year! Taking place over three weekends (June 22-24, June 29-July 1, and July 6-8, 2023), you won’t want to miss this year’s line-up of over 800 acts.

While you’re there, make sure to wave to our talented electricians, who are on-site at Henry Maier Festival Park during the event to handle emergencies and work behind the scenes to strengthen and update electrical infrastructure systems!

6) Harley-Davidson

Harley-nighttime

There’s no doubt Harley-Davidson is one of the most recognized names to come out of Milwaukee. It’s so much more than a company, it’s a culture. Founded in 1903, the world-renowned American motorcycle manufacturer is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year!

Lemberg is proud to be a long-standing partner with Harley-Davidson, working on a variety of initiatives at the company’s Menomonee Falls Production Plant and Tour Center. Past projects included sign installation for these locations, consisting of building lettering, monument signs and the historic Harley-Davidson badge logo.

7) Milwaukee Bucks Parking Structure and EMC

If you’ve gone to a Milwaukee Bucks game in the “Deer District” and noticed the massive, multi-plane electronic message center (EMC) attached to the parking garage — that’s our work! Along with the EMC, we were also awarded the electrical construction of the secured 1200-car parking facility. The project included lighting throughout the multilevel garage, lighting controls, card access, electric vehicle (EV) charging station preparation, and fire alarm systems.

The next time you visit the Fiserv Forum plaza, be sure to stop and get a picture in front of the architectural “Fear the Deer'' sign, which we also helped commission!

Go Bucks!

8) Ma Fischer’s Diner

MaFischerInstall (1)

Ma Fischer’s Diner is a Milwaukee icon, providing Milwaukee’s East Side with homestyle comfort food since 1975. With its brick walls, traditional booths, and corner windows, this diner breathes nostalgia and is the perfect neighborhood hangout.

Lemberg’s Signs and Lighting design team was more than happy to collaborate with a few local artists to create a one-of-a-kind 3D sign for the restaurant. The result was a 5-foot-8-inch statue of the former owner, Jackie Fischer – aka "Ma Fischer.”

Lemberg also provided custom lighting to highlight the figure and her double-sided backdrop.

9) American Family Field

When taking in the sights and smells of a baseball game, it’s easy to forget everything that goes into creating the perfect gameday experience. Today’s sports stadiums require wireless technology to function, which is why Lemberg helped install wireless technology throughout the existing infrastructure of American Family Field.

The project included a new wireless network to support mobile check-in, social media, instant rewards, map and seating access, exclusive content and merchandise/concessions ordering directly from stadium seats.

Lemberg Signs and Lighting also managed the design and installation of signage for several concessions, special reservation spaces and sponsor identification within the park. Learn more here!

10) Sprecher Brewery Co.

Sprecher

Served at restaurants and neighborhood cookouts across the state, Sprecher is not only a Milwaukee tradition but a Wisconsin tradition. Opening its first location in 1985, Sprecher Brewing Co. is the oldest Craft Brewery in Milwaukee.

The company was founded by Randy Sprecher and is now proudly owned by a small group of local investors. It’s best known for its award-winning root beer, which is fired-brewed with raw Wisconsin honey.

Through a trusted partnership, Lemberg's electrical service team provides ongoing industrial services to Sprecher Brewery in Milwaukee. So, make sure to think of us the next time you enjoy a nice, cold Sprecher Root Beer! Cheers!
